Don’t You Want One of These

in your front yard???

Envoy In Yard 1b About 2 weeks ago, this was lying in front of the room where my quilt frame is set up.

I was in the kitchen shelling the last of the English Peas.  Chris was outside unloading things from the van as we had just returned from vacation in Arkansas (another few posts coming about that).  Don had walked to the garden.

I heard tires screeching and some ka-thunks and thought…someone’s in the ditch….again.  People think this highway is the Indy 500.  Speed limits out here are just suggestions to most drivers who use this road.  Chris started screaming “Mom, Mom, Mom…there’s a car in our yard and a woman is in the yard”.  I just thought someone had pulled into the driveway and walking in the yard.

Not. When I looked around the corner, that vehicle was what I saw.  I called 911 and checked on the driver who had been thrown from the vehicle.  It didn’t take long for our highway to be shut down and for all manner of emergency/law enforcement personnel to arrive.  The driver was helicoptered to the hospital.  We hope she’s recovering.

envoy in Yard 2Here’s another pic of a tree branch that was lodged in her gas line.

Isn’t that bizarre?  Fortunately, there was no fire involved as gas was leaking onto the ground and as you can see, the Envoy was only about 12″ away from our house.

We’re thankful things weren’t worse but there’s a good bit of clean-up to be done which we’ll have to take care of…no insurance on the vehicle.

FenceResizeThis is a photo of our neighbors fence that was destroyed.  You can’t see it, but a 20 something year old Cedar tree was destroyed in our yard behind the fence.  It’s a good thing it was there.  It slowed the vehicle down before it landed upside down.

And we were just minding our own business.
