Feature Quilter

Warning: This is a blatant “pat myself on the back” post. 😉

I’m not real good at keeping my blog current but lately I’ve been even worse than usual. There’s a reason and I may have mentioned this before but this is my “official” post about it. I’ve been chosen to be the feature quilter at this year’s BerryPatch Preservation Quilt & Art Expo in Ponchatoula, LA. WooHoo!

BerryPatch Quilt & Art Expo

I’m more a quilter than quilt maker because I’ve got tons of UFO’s and quilt tops ready for quilting but my list of completed quilts was pretty slim. Lol. The Expo is October 8th (9am to 4pm) so I’ve been working all year to get quilts ready to hang in the exhibit. Having surgery in April wasn’t part of my plan and it really threw me off course (in more ways than one).

I’m winding down this week and next week will be spent getting everything ready for the expo. I’m also the designer for this year’s “FQ Stroll” (I think I mentioned that before) so I’ve got to get that pattern to Danette for printing.

The rest of this week is going to be a busy one. I’ve got one quilt on the frame and another quilt ready to go on the frame and I have to quilt the FQ Stroll on the 301. I’m waiting for my free-motion foot to come in so I can start that one. They all have to be ready to be bound by this weekend. I can sit at night and hand stitch the binding.

I’ll do another post next week after I get the FQ Stroll sample quilted so you can see it. It’s called “Tea With Marie” and I’ll also do a post explaining where I came up with that name.

If you’re within driving distance of Ponchatoula, LA, please join us for the day. I’d love to meet you in person and if you’re someone I already know….I’d love to visit with you again!

Congratulations, Sheryl. that is quite an honor as well as an accomplishment. Few of us get a far as designing a block. But having it recognized and published AND put on display is a REAL HONOR!

Thanks, Maureen. If you do ever get to come across the water to my area…please let me know! DH has always wanted to visit Australia, but I don’t think he’ll ever get me on a plane for that kind of trip.
