Where Are We?

I want to say thanks to everyone who has responded.  Prayers are always welcome.   Just so you can see where we are in relation to New Orleans and the coast line, I found this map and put a purple star to show our location.  The map came from louisiana-map.org.

The purple star shows where we live.  Click on the map for a larger view.

Part of our parish is under mandatory evacuation but our area rarely reaches that point due to us not being in a flood zone.  I’m headed out to help Chris get the plants put up.

Looks like you are in-land enough. I couldn’t remember from the ROMP years ago! I remember water coming in through the window sashings and other attendant messes from the ones I experienced. Now all I worry about are tornadoes. Keep safe! I am glad you are ready for a siege.

I was wondering where you lived so thank you for putting the map on your blog. I was just watching the Weather channel to see all of this. (I live in SE Kansas – in the middle of the drought). Would you believe that we are heading to Shreveport Thursday for a family reunion & to deliver quilts to the Shriner’s Hospital. We were also in Colorado Springs during the Waldo Canyon wildfire. Terrible timing. Stay safe.

Lol, I was just wondering about you… Good to know you’re on the other side of the lake! Did you get storm serge for Katrina? Lafayette’s set for just rain and wind, so I’ll be thinking of you!

Some people think just because you’re not on the coast that you’re safe. Duh, we live almost 200 miles up from Gulf Shores, AL but when Katrina came through, we had 80MPH wind & we were w/o power for over a week.
Stay safe, evac if you need to,
    Prayers are with you,

I’m a little further south than you in Lafourche Parish located below New Orleans. We will be riding out this storm at home. Sending prayers your way and to everyone dealing with this storm.

    Stay safe,

Not having to deal with water from hurricanes, but only wind from tornados, I haven’t a clue what it takes to “batten down the hatches.” I can see from your plans though that you are well organized and used to planning for such events. God bless you and your family and friends. Keep you all safe and out of harm’s way. Prayers continue to be with you through all of this.
