And the winner is

Border Option #4.

I know…..you’re saying….there was no Option #4….and you’re right.  Your vote was very close.

#1—9 votes

#2—10 votes

#3—8 votes

I loved reading why each of you voted for a particular border.  You all had good reasons for your choice.  My favorite is #3 because I like the “hanky” look it gives the quilt.  Alas….I can’t put my hands on that extra focus fabric so I don’t have enough of it to do #3….or for that matter…#1 or #2.  Well, that just stinks doesn’t it???

So, I had to go back to EQ7 and start over with borders to see what I can do after measuring my fabrics.   So, here’s what I’ve come up with and I like the way it sets the quilt off….and best of all…..it’s easy-peasy!!!!

Border Option #4

As much as  I like Border Options #2 & #3—I don’t have time to make all those time-consuming blocks.  The sawtooth blocks in Option #3 either have to be paper pieced or template cut.  I did a trial of the templates last night and I actually didn’t do so bad but it took a good bit of time and the measurements are wonky because of the width of the blocks…..and there’s that darn issue of not enough focus fabric.  Lol.

So, #4 is what it will be.  Hope you like my decision.  I’ll post an actual picture when I get the top finished.  My goal is to finish it tomorrow.  As soon as I get “Toast to Texas”  quilted, then “Chart Your Course” will go on the frame and I can mark another UFO off the list!  WooHoo!

  3. Looks great, Sheryl… you’re right – it lets the center ‘shine’ and doesn’t detract from it.

I think it is awesome and really does make the quilt. EQ7 and Sheryl win again. It’s a wonderful life when we can wiggle out way out of not enough fabric and work with what we have and still come out with a stunning quilt. Bravo lady – great job!!

I think Option #4 is the best yet! I didn’t vote first time around, but I
think you have ended up with a winner.
