Way Too Much Food

We had too much food yesterday.  Even though we thought we cooked less than last year, we still had too much food.  Plastic containers filled with left-overs have taken up residence in my refrigerator.

  • DH fried a turkey
  • Mamaw’s cornbread dressing
  • Giblet gravy without the giblets
  • Whole Cranberry Sauce
  • Fruit Salad
  • Green bean casserole…is any holiday really a holiday without one of these on the table?
  • Asparagus casserole…ditto
  • Deviled eggs
  • English peas…not the canned kind but real ones we picked, shelled, and had frozen from our own garden last spring.
  • Turnip greens
  • Baked sweet potatoes…in the skins…not the smushed up kind with raisins and marshmallows….Ick
  • Pecan pie
  • Pumpkin pie
  • Egg custard pie
  • Rolls from Ryan’s…did you know you can buy Ryan’s rolls either ready to bake or baked?  Yep…$3/dozen!  And you can pre-order them too.  And they come with the little tubs of honey butter!
  • Sweet tea

Yum, Yum!  —–it’s been a few hours since I started writing this post so the left-overs have been whittled down quite a bit.  I’ve cleaned the mustard greens Chris picked this afternoon and got them in the freezer.

Here’s a picture of Feedsack Delight.  That’s DS, Chris and baby sister Vanessa holding the quilt.  The quilt size is 73.5″  x  90″. Hope you like it!

  1. Sounds like yummy Thanksgiving food. We had a similar feast here. Mom and Dad came up from down your way. They left today. I figure I have leftovers for at least a week . . although I fried oysters tonight. Mom brought me half a gallon and I couldn’t stop thinking about them! Feedsack Delight looks . . delightful! 🙂

It sounds like you had a nice visit with your family. The oysters sound yummy. I’m glad you like the quilt. It just screams for some creative quilting in those wide borders doesn’t it???? Hint…Hint 🙂

Your feast sounds good. We did pretty much the same, with sweet potatoes (with marshmallows, sorry gals!) garden salad, fruit salad, dinner rolls, cranberry-orange sauce, pecan pie, pumpkin pie and german chocolate cake.
