Quilting Editions #1—Strawberry Stroll

I didn’t forget about our Quilting Editions projects.  It’s been more than a little crazy around here the last few weeks.  Our boys all got haircuts last Monday and I’ll write more about that later.

Our first project is “Strawberry Stroll”.  You may use a different applique motif in the medallion center if you have one you wish to use.  I don’t have any alternates for you to use and just don’t have time to draw any but you are free to use artistic freedom.

Here’s the design we’re working on right now.

Strawberry Stroll--#1 in the series

Strawberry Stroll–#1 in the series

Click here to download the supply list/cover sheet.

Get your supplies together and I’ll put our first set of instructions up on 4/27.  That will give you almost 2 weeks to find the fabrics you want to use.

I have one set of original fabrics that were used for this pattern.  Leave a comment  *on this post * about what colors you plan to use for your Strawberry Stroll and if you’re going to use the pattern as is or substitute a different applique center. I’ll use a random number generator to choose someone to receive this set of FQ’s.

I plan on using colors as similar to yours as I can find…I love it!! I have collected Strawberries for my kitchen for nearly 30 years now—so you know that I am very ‘picky’ about what I like by now. But I truly love this strawberry!!!

Your quilt turned out beautiful. Those colors would go well in our house. The Strawberry looks good.

  7. Cheryl, this is great timing,, strawberries will be ripe soon… in Texas that is. I love the color combination that you chose and I believe I should have some close to those colors. The blue really makes that strawberry pop..
    You do great designs..

  18. I’ll probably use colors very similar to those you’ve chosen. I’ll keep the strawberry center as that was one of my mom’s favorite designs. The wallpaper in her kitchen had strawberries as did her dishes. I used to make crafty things with a strawberry theme to go in her kitchen and den. If only she were still with me to receive this quilt. She’d love it.

I recently found a bin of fabrics which had a handful of reds. I am thinking that the strawberry may become a pillow for my granddaughter. And I think that the quilt itself may find a dolphin theme for my grandson. In that bin was a ton of blues. Now I just need to find something dolphin for the center. Love the ‘layers’ of borders!

I am so excited about this project. My stash is full of possibilities. Love the mix of strong vs. subtle color contrasts. Some of my favorite colors so I am bound to find them in my stash. Thank you so much for making this available.

I love the color and design of this project. As the color range is one of my favorites, I should have no problem using my stash. And strawberries are my favorite fruit. I eat them all year long.

  36. I’m in! It’s an adorable quilt – and will be fun to make while the snow is melting here. Should be done just about the time Dad’s strawberry plants pop their little heads up. I’ll use similar colors from my stash – maybe a bit more red.

Definitely red, pink, white, and green. The strawberry is perfect for an early summer wall quilt. Different seasons could be different colors and different centers.

i love the color combo you used-everything blended. i have trouble with color & knowing what works well & what does not so some of my quilts do not look as good as others that are more color ssavvy–i am working on it & use my husband to help–he is very color savvy. thank you for sharing this quilt with us. susan h

  46. It’s the middle of autumn here in my part of the world, but our strawberry plants are still producing fruit. Hmmm… I’m leaning towards country-ish colours. I’d use it as a table topper, and don’t want a “right way up” central motif, so I’d substitute the strawberry for some flowers – maybe strawberry flowers, they are so cute!
Great design, it’s fun with all the borders.
